We have taken years to discover and refine the very best in lighting solutions to produce superior hand-made outcomes in a cost effective and repeatable way.
We have designed the process to be effective at large or small scale and conducted directly with the end user or our partners.
Creative lighting layout captured in detailed engineered documents
Beautiful designs made real by perfect products
Bespoke light fixtures with optimal power and control
Every project is unique and requires a customized solution. Our detailed engineering documents ensure the teams that design and the teams that execute are in lockstep.
Our decades of experience position us to speak the language of designers and trades just as well as with industry partners and clients.
Our broad umbrella of capability makes us a one-stop-shop for scope that typically requires many players.
There are 10 Elements that ensure every RAVE Lights system is perfectly crafted so that the design intent and outcome are in sync:
The system has to work as intended every single time it is commanded to. No exceptions. We use only the best components that we have extensively tested, so failures are virtually unheard of.
No one likes fumbling with switches and dimmers trying to figure out which one controls which light or having to set the light levels on each one every time they walk in the room. That is why every system we do incorporates a simple and intuitive control system. Individual dimmer control and user-configurable "scene" capability makes managing 5 or 10 (or more!) dimmers in an area easily managed with the push of a button or even by simply speaking commands!
All of our fixtures are hand-crafted in our shop. Using our proprietary 12 step fabrication process, each fixture is made uniquely so we are able to ensure full coverage in the living space for each made-to-order spec, not just a pre-fab puck or 12" metal fixture. This gives the space beautiful, even light distribution. Ideal!
The beam angle of a light source refers to the width of the light beam it emits. It plays a crucial role in determining the distribution and coverage of light in a given space. The beam angle affects lighting in several ways:
Choosing the appropriate beam angle for a specific lighting application depends on the desired lighting effect, the size and layout of the area to be illuminated, and the intended use of the space. It is worth considering the interplay of multiple light sources with different beam angles to achieve a balanced and visually appealing lighting design.
You see them everywhere. Dots. Linear lights that are not properly diffused allow the individual diodes to be seen and it looks horrible 100% of the time. RAVE light fixtures are designed specifically so that this is mitigated.
We hate dots and we don't make light fixtures that haven't accounted for that so all our fixtures are smooth, pure light from end to end!
The appropriate color temperature of light in a home depends on the desired atmosphere and the specific room or activity within the space. Color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K) and is used to describe the perceived warmth or coolness of light. Here are some general considerations that go into selecting the best color temp:
Ultimately, personal preference and the specific function of each room should guide the choice of color temperature. It's also worth considering the use of dimmable light fixtures or smart lighting systems that allow you to adjust the color temperature to match different activities or times of the day.
Color Rendering Index (CRI) is a metric used to evaluate how accurately a light source reproduces colors compared to a reference light source. It measures the ability of a light source to reveal the true colors of objects, especially when compared to natural daylight. The CRI is calculated by comparing the light source's spectral distribution to that of a standardized reference source. A higher CRI value, usually on a scale of 0 to 100, indicates a light source with better color rendering capabilities. This means that objects illuminated by a high CRI light source will appear more vibrant and true to their actual colors, making it an essential consideration in all of our projects.
Linear dimming refers to a method of adjusting the brightness of a light source in an even and gradual manner. Instead of abrupt changes in intensity, linear dimming allows for a smooth and continuous transition of light output. It involves varying the electrical current or voltage supplied to the light source, resulting in a proportional change in brightness. As the dimming control is adjusted, the light output dims or brightens gradually, allowing for precise control over the desired level of illumination.
We have tested and used dozens of different components in hundreds of different configurations. We always have a high standard for linear dimming performance in all of our systems.
Dimming is one of the most important aspects of how light contributes to the "feel" of any home. Not all components will enable a full dimming range. The light level will start to drop when the dimmer is pressed, but then it just cuts out way too soon. Not acceptable for lights being used in an environment where minimal light output is required to cerate the desired ambiance. RAVE light systems will dim to a whisper of light! At least down to 1% and in some of our higher performing application as low as .1%. That's one-tenth of one percent. Amazing!
The three main things that cause this:
The bottom line here is that we carefully select compatible components and RAVE systems do not flicker!
Precision-fit fixtures built to the exact need of the application ensure perfect light in every lighting design.
Often overlooked or mis-prescribed, high performance drivers enable beautiful looking lights to operate as intended.
Premium control devices and systems that are powerful, flexible, and easy to use are the difference between a mess and bliss.
